The WIC: a worthwhile challenge for Barrière Event Solutions
The 8th World Investment Conference (WIC) will be held in La Baule from 2nd to 4th June 2010. The high-flying international event will take place at the Hermitage Barrière, which will reveal a few secrets of its outstanding expertise for the occasion.
Nothing is impossible for our staff at the Hermitage Barrière in La Baule. The majestic seaside hotel has been hosting the highly exclusive World Investment Conference (WIC) since 2003, and Groupe Barrière is one of its main sponsors. This year again, over 700 politicians, corporate bosses and investors from around the world will attend the WIC to discuss the appeal of Europe in a world undergoing constant change. Structured around plenary sessions and theme symposiums, the WIC programme is very intense and requires great reactivity from the organisers.
For the first time, an important meeting for 500 people will be held in the grand Ambassadeurs Hall at the Hermitage Barrière, followed by lunch for 350 people. This represents a real challenge for our staff, who will only have 30 minutes to transform the hall into a restaurant! “Ready-laid tables will be stacked in an adjacent room. As soon as the participants have left the hall, our staff will start installing tables in record-breaking time!” explains Gwenhaël Lebrun, head of catering at the Hermitage Barrière. For events of this scale, speed is the essence. “Lunches will be punctuated by question and answer sessions in the auditorium. Which means we must serve a high quality meal in just 45 minutes” adds Gwenhaël Lebrun. Over 2,100 covers will be served in just 2½ days, so there will be no margin for error!
The hotel staff also have the great satisfaction of seeing several important figures returning to the hotel individually, impressed by the town’s fabulous beach and Barrière’s professionalism.
