The Mediterranean breeze is gently blowing on Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière
The Parisian palace has recently opened La Petite Maison de Nicole, a restaurant from Nice highly reputed for top-quality, straightforward local cuisine bursting with natural flavours. And another novelty, Le Marta bar has just opened inside the hotel, in tribute to Lucien Barrière’s wife. And while you are here, check out Fouquet’s fully refurbished interior.
It’s the big event of the first few months of 2013. Following London, Cannes, Dubaï & New-York, La Petite Maison de Nicole has finally reached Paris. To set up shop in the capital, Nicole Rubi naturally chose the best, the Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière & a novel concept. Every evening from 8.00pm to 12.00am, the famous Fouquet’s brasserie switches decor (thanks to ingenious sliding curtains) and becomes La Petite Maison de Nicole. Jacqueline Morabito, who set up the restaurant in Cannes, created an elegant interior design enhanced by portraits of film stars by Dutch painter Hayo Sol. Chandeliers on each table for a very warm effect, which is what la Petite Maison is all about! Large servings of southern cuisine to share, which have made the restaurant’s success, accompanied by live band music. To make all this happen, Jean-Yves Leuranguer - Meilleur Ouvrier de France (best craftsman of France) – and his brigade at Fouquet’s are now privy to all of Nicole’s family secrets to delight Parisians with fine zucchini flower fritters, stuffed vegetables, purple artichoke salad, truffle scrambled eggs, fried local rock mullet, roasted royal Mediterranean crayfish or calamaretti fritti (squid fritters). And to prolong the magic, Le Marta bar offers glamorous yet cosy settings recalling Hollywood.
Located next to the hotel lobby, the bar is run by cocktail genius Stéphane Ginouves - Meilleur Ouvrier de France Barman 2011 – and serves a few dishes for hungry night owls.
For even more comfort, the 4 halls for private hire at the brasserie have been given a face-lift. While the air-conditioning & soundproofing systems have been modernised to provide better work conditions, none of the original woodwork and gold work has been touched.
