For this year’s MARCH 2013 edition, artistic director René Martin (creator of La Folle Journée de Nantes – the largest classical music festival in France, Bilbao & Tokyo) has chosen to give carte blanche to the famous Modigliani Quartet, who are celebrating their first 10 years together.
The Hôtel Hermitage Barrière has been delighted to welcome the Quartet over the years for the Musical Moments. Set up in 2003 the Quartet gained international fame following three successive victories in international competitions. They are among the youngest and most sought-after chamber music performers in the world. Following in the Ysaÿe Quartet’s footsteps, the quartet studied under W. Levin & G. Kurtág at Pro-Quartet, before going on to work with the Artemis Quartet at UdK, the Berlin University of the Arts. Having frequently performed at well-known occasions, the Quartet played for the 2012 Rising Star tour in all major European concert halls, and they have also toured America, Japan, China and Israel.
To celebrate their 10 years together, the Quartet has invited famous classical musicians currently in vogue, who have marked their career such as violinist & friend Renaud Capuçon, the brilliant clarinettist Paul Meyer, soloists and partners such as pianists Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Adam Laloum and Bertrand Chamayou who they love performing with live. Amongst their guests, the young rising star Léa Hennino and the remarkable cello player Edgar Moreau, who got a standing ovation at the last Folle Journée.
Facing the sea, the Hermitage Barrière*****‘s peaceful exterior perfectly reflects the reassuring tone of chamber music. The hotel’s intimate atmosphere brings everyone together around friendly dinners including both musicians and the audience… Can you imagine anywhere better than our seaside Anglo-Norman hotel to be immersed in the world of classical music?
A top quality programme and excellent service are the buzz words during this weekend combining music and relaxation.
